DataCore Analytics

Analysis Tools

Free tools that help you run and understand your own analysis. Your data stays on your machine.

We built these because the most common thing we hear is not “analyse this for me” — it is “I think I could do this myself if I knew where to start”.

Both tools require a sign-in and neither receives your research data. The workbench generates configuration files in your browser; the visualiser parses result files in your browser. Nothing is uploaded at any point.

What Is Available

Free to use for researchers at African institutions.

01

Analysis Workbench

Choose from sixteen peer-reviewed nf-core pipelines, build a valid samplesheet with live schema checking, set parameters, and get the exact command to run on your own machine. Covers RNA-Seq, single-cell, variant calling, pathogen genomics, microbiome, epigenomics and public data retrieval.

02

Feasibility Checker

Tell it your RAM, cores and free disk, and it tells you honestly whether the pipeline will run — and exactly which flags to change if it will not. Built in because nf-core defaults assume a compute cluster, and most people find that out the hard way.

03

Results Visualiser

Drop your pipeline output in and get interactive charts: principal component analysis computed properly in the browser, volcano and MA plots with adjustable thresholds, QC metrics, taxonomic composition and peak summaries.

04

Local Run Configuration

Every run comes with a generated Nextflow config that caps resources to the machine you actually have, so tasks do not fail asking for memory that is not there.

05

Client Portal

For clients with an active project: pipeline stage, per-sample quality control, interim results and deliverables in one dashboard.

06

Everything Downloadable

Samplesheets, parameter files, configs and filtered result tables all download as standard files you own. Nothing is locked inside our site.

Why We Give These Away

The bottleneck is knowledge, not software

nf-core pipelines are free, excellent and publicly documented. The reason more African research groups do not use them is not cost — it is that the first run is genuinely hard: a malformed samplesheet column, a resource request that exceeds the machine, a reference genome that will not download.

These tools remove that first barrier. If they mean you never need to hire us, that is a good outcome; it is the same reason we run the scholarship programme.

What they do not do

Generating a valid command is not the same as designing a study, and a volcano plot is not an interpretation. The judgement calls — is this design powered, is that cluster real, will this survive review — are the part that needs a person.

When you want that, the scoping call is free and we will tell you plainly if you do not need us.

Privacy by construction

Neither tool has a server-side component that touches your data. The workbench writes CSV and JSON files in your browser; the visualiser reads files with the browser's own FileReader. You can verify both claims by opening your browser's network tab while you use them.

This is deliberate: several African countries restrict moving genomic or health data offshore, and a tool that required uploading would be unusable for exactly the people we built it for.
